”アラブのとある国のとあるところに、父親を亡くした三人の息子がいた。 父親は次のような遺言を遺していた：「私が死んだら、私の財産の半分を長男に、三分の一を次男に、九分の一を三男に、譲る。」 父親の財産とは、１７頭のラクダであった。” http://d.hatena.ne.jp/kuro-yo/touch/20080428/1209377177 長男は17/2 次男は17/3 三男は17/9 を貰えるということです。 1/2以外は割り切れないけど、とりあえず小数点以下第２位まで求めてみます。 長男は8.5 次男は5.66 三男は1.88 設問では賢者らしき旅人が、１頭を渡すことで 長男は18/2 ＝ 9 次男は18/3 ＝ 6 三男は18/9 ＝ 2 という結論を導いていました。 但し、9＋6＋2は17であり、賢者らしき旅人の1頭が余るため、最後の1頭は返してもらいます。などとして一件落着っぽくしています。 これは公倍数を勉強するための手段であって、除算を勉強するための手段ではありません。 この問題は 1/2 1/3 1/9 という分数をどうすれば17で割れるかを考える問題ですが 最小公倍数を求めると 長男は9/18 次男は6/18 三男は2/18 となり、それぞれを足すことで17/18となるので、長男は９頭、次男は６頭、三男は２頭という話が成立するのです。 分数の足し算と最小公倍数を使うことで全部で１７頭だということを教えてくれます。 １７頭しかいないラクダを、１８頭にする意味が出てきました。 この設問には、一点だけ大きな問題があります。それは性善説です。 旅人がくれたラクダ１頭を、なぜ３人が手放す必要があるでしょうか？ 最後にその１頭を争って奪い合うという最悪のシナリオが発生します。 そうです、たかだか１７頭の割り算が出来なかっただけで、３人の兄弟は争ったのです。愚かでしょう。その３人の兄弟が旅人からもらった最後の１頭を争わないわけがありません。 最悪は旅人をその場で殺しかねません。要らぬ火種を旅人は作ってしまったのです。 では、旅人が小数点以下第２位まで求める割り算が出来ていたらどうだったでしょう。 最初に戻ります。 長男は17/2×2＋（余り）=17 次男
